London 2012 olympics ident

So, what do we all think of the 2012 Olympic ident?
It has been said to have "a recognizable brash character", I can't deny the truth in this statement, but like many others I really don't rate the design. When compared to previous examples such as the 'Mexico 68' designed by US designer Lance Wyman I feel our  choice lacks sophistication and design credibility! If this is to represent us as a nation I'm not sure that we are giving off the right impression!?

I would be really interested in any of your opinions......

London's pitch to the IOC was about it being a games for the athletes of tomorrow, so the logo looks to follow that up by appealing to a younger generation i.e. with the bright colours, the urban graffiti style etc. However, I agree with your point - it is too disjointed and doesn't seem to represent us or London as a host city. I can see the concept, but perhaps think that it's too futuristic considering the long history and tradition of the games.

yeah it would have been cool if they could have found a way of appealing to the younger generation without alienating others! I think they should have focused more on representing the host city!
